Website Development Cost in Bangladesh (2026): What You Really Pay For

A furniture shop owner in Mirpur showed us two quotes. One agency asked for Tk 12,000. Another asked for Tk 1.8 lakh. “Are they building the same thing?” he asked. No, they were not. And that confusion is exactly why so many businesses in Bangladesh end up paying for a website twice.

This guide breaks down website development cost in Bangladesh in plain words. You will see typical price ranges, what changes the price, the yearly costs nobody mentions, and the questions to ask before you pay anyone.

Quick answer: typical price ranges

Prices below are typical ranges we see in the Bangladeshi market in 2026. They are a guide, not a rate card. Your quote depends on features, design quality and who builds it.

Typical website development price ranges in Bangladesh by type of website
Type of website Typical range Good for
Template business site (5–8 pages) Tk 15,000 – 40,000 New small businesses, simple presence
Custom-designed business site Tk 50,000 – 1.5 lakh Service companies, clinics, agencies
E-commerce store (WooCommerce/Shopify) Tk 60,000 – 3 lakh Online shops with payments and couriers
Custom web app or portal Tk 3 lakh and above Booking systems, SaaS, dashboards

Why one website costs Tk 12,000 and another Tk 1.8 lakh

Both quotes in our furniture story were “a website”. But look at what each one included.

Tk 12,000 quote Tk 1.8 lakh quote
Design Ready-made theme, logo swapped Custom design for the brand, mobile first
Pages 5 pages, copy from client 12 pages plus 120 products, copy written
Speed Not checked Target under 2 seconds on mobile
SEO Plugin installed Keyword plan, structure, schema
Payments and courier None bKash, Nagad, cards, courier API
Tracking None GA4, Meta Pixel and Conversions API
Support None after launch 3 months of fixes and training

The cheap site was not a scam. It was simply a different product. The problem starts when a business needs the second one but buys the first.

What really drives the price

1. Number of pages and products

Every page needs design, content and testing. A five-page site is quicker than a 40-page site. For stores, adding and checking hundreds of products takes real time.

2. Design: template or custom

A template is cheaper and faster. A custom design fits your brand and is planned around how your customers buy. For businesses that compete hard online, custom design usually pays for itself in better conversion.

3. Features

  • Online payments with bKash, Nagad or cards
  • Courier integration with Pathao, Steadfast, RedX or others
  • Booking, quotation or membership systems
  • Multi-language content in Bangla and English
  • Integrations with your CRM, accounting or ERP

4. Content

Who writes the words and takes the photos? Good copy and real photos make a huge difference. If the agency writes your content, the price goes up, but so does quality.

5. SEO, speed and tracking

These are invisible, so many quotes skip them. But a site that loads slowly, cannot be found on Google and cannot tell you where sales come from is a site you will rebuild. Read our web development page to see what we include by default.

Hidden yearly costs most people forget

Your website does not stop costing money after launch. Ask for these numbers up front.

  • Domain renewal every year (.com or .com.bd).
  • Hosting. Cheap shared hosting is fine for a small site. A busy store needs better.
  • Premium plugins or theme licences that renew yearly.
  • Backups and security. Hacked sites are common, and cleanup costs more than prevention.
  • Maintenance. Updates, small changes and fixes. Many agencies offer a monthly plan.
Ask this before you sign“What will this website cost me every year after launch?” A good agency answers in one message. A vague answer is a warning sign.

WordPress, Shopify or custom code?

The platform you choose changes both the build cost and the yearly cost.

Platform Build cost Yearly cost Best for
WordPress Low to medium Hosting + plugins Business sites, blogs, most stores
WooCommerce Medium Hosting + plugins Stores needing bKash, Nagad, COD rules
Shopify Medium Monthly plan + apps Brands selling abroad
Custom code High Hosting + developer time Complex apps and portals

For most Bangladeshi businesses, WordPress or WooCommerce gives the best balance. If you mainly sell to the USA or UK, Shopify can be easier.

Where the money should go

When we plan a good website, the budget roughly splits like this. If a quote spends almost everything on “development” and nothing on planning, SEO or testing, ask why.

Breakdown of a website development budget: planning, design, development, SEO, testing

Red flags in a website quote

  1. No list of pages or features, just one total price.
  2. The agency will host the site on its own account and keep the login.
  3. No mention of mobile speed, SEO or tracking.
  4. “Lifetime free hosting” or “unlimited everything” promises.
  5. Nulled (pirated) premium themes or plugins. They often contain malware.
  6. No written timeline or payment milestones.

How to get a fair quote

  1. Write a one-page brief. Goal, pages, features, examples you like, budget range.
  2. Ask three agencies to quote on the same brief. Now you compare like with like.
  3. Ask for live examples and check them on your phone.
  4. Agree on ownership. Domain, hosting and admin access must be in your name.
  5. Pay in milestones, for example 40% to start, 40% after design and build, 20% at launch.

What a good website build includes, step by step

Many business owners never see what happens between “advance paid” and “website live”. Here is what a proper process looks like, so you can check what you are paying for.

  1. Discovery. The agency learns your business, customers, competitors and goals. A good team asks a lot of questions here.
  2. Sitemap and wireframes. A plan of every page and how visitors move from one to the next. This is where SEO structure is decided.
  3. Design. Mobile and desktop designs for key pages. You review and approve before any code.
  4. Content. Words, photos and product data. This step causes most delays, so start early.
  5. Development. The site is built, with forms, payments, couriers and integrations.
  6. SEO and tracking. Titles, descriptions, schema, sitemap, Google Search Console, GA4, Meta Pixel and Conversions API.
  7. Testing. On real phones, slow connections, different browsers. Forms and payments tested end to end.
  8. Launch and training. The site goes live, and your team learns to update it.

If a quote skips steps 1, 2, 6 or 7, the price may look lower, but you are buying risk.

How much should a small business spend?

A simple way to decide: think about what one new customer is worth to you. If your website brings even a few extra customers a month, how long until it pays for itself?

  • A clinic that gets five new patients a month from Google can recover a good website cost within a few months.
  • An online store that improves its conversion rate from 1% to 2% doubles sales from the same ad budget.
  • A B2B exporter that wins one overseas buyer can pay for its website many times over.

Spend in line with what the website must achieve. A site meant only as a business card can be simple. A site meant to sell must be built to sell.

Domain and hosting: small costs, big decisions

Your domain is your address on the internet, like yourbrand.com or yourbrand.com.bd. Your hosting is the computer that stores and serves your website. Both are cheap compared with the build, but choosing badly can hurt you for years.

Domain tips

  • Register it in your own name and email, not the developer’s.
  • Choose .com for global reach, or .com.bd if you serve only Bangladesh. Many brands buy both.
  • Turn on auto-renew. Expired domains can be bought by someone else.

Hosting tips

  • A small business site runs fine on good shared hosting.
  • A busy WooCommerce store needs stronger hosting with server caching.
  • Pick a provider with servers close to your customers, daily backups and fast support.
  • Avoid “unlimited” plans that slow down when the server gets crowded.

Our separate guide on choosing web hosting in Bangladesh goes deeper.

Maintenance plans: what they should include

After launch, someone has to keep the site healthy. Many agencies offer monthly maintenance. A useful plan includes:

Task How often
WordPress, theme and plugin updates Every month, tested first
Off-site backups Daily
Security scan and firewall Always on
Uptime monitoring Every few minutes
Small content changes A set number of hours per month
Speed and SEO health check Every month

If you skip maintenance, problems pile up quietly. One day a plugin breaks the checkout, or the site gets hacked. Fixing that in a hurry costs far more than a small monthly plan.

Website speed: the cost you do not see

Most visitors in Bangladesh use mobile data. A heavy website with large images and many plugins can take several seconds to load. Many people leave before the page appears. Google also uses page experience as a ranking signal.

Ask your developer to test the site on Google PageSpeed Insights and share the mobile score. A good build compresses images, uses light code and loads key content first. Fixing speed later often costs more than building it right.

Is a cheap website ever the right choice?

Yes. If you are testing a new idea, need a simple online card for your business, or sell mostly through Facebook and only need a basic page, a low-cost template site is fine. Just know what you are buying, and plan to upgrade when the business grows.

But if your website is meant to bring customers from Google, run ads to it, or take payments, invest properly once. Rebuilding a site after a year usually costs more than doing it right the first time.

What a better website is worth: the payback calculator

Most people compare website quotes by price alone. A better question is what the new site will earn back. If a faster, clearer site turns more of the same visitors into buyers, it can pay for itself in months, even when it costs more.

Put your own numbers in below. Visitors and conversion rate are in Google Analytics. If you do not have analytics yet, that is the first thing to fix.

The maths is simple: extra sales = visitors × (new conversion rate − old conversion rate). Multiply by your profit per sale. In our experience, moving from about 1% to about 2% is realistic for an old, slow site that gets a proper rebuild with a clear offer, fast pages and an easy checkout. Going from 3% to 6% is much harder. Be honest with the inputs.

A one-page website brief you can send to three agencies

Vague requests get vague quotes. If you send the same short brief to every agency, the quotes become comparable, and you will spot the one that did not read it. Copy this and fill it in:

Section What to write
Business What you sell, to whom, in which cities or countries
Goal One main goal: orders, calls, form leads or bookings, with a number if you have one
Pages List them: home, about, each service or category, contact, blog
Features Payments (bKash, cards), booking, Bangla and English, live chat, CRM link
Content Who writes the text and takes photos: you or them
Examples Two sites you like and one you do not, with the reason
Budget and date Your range and the launch date you need
After launch Who updates the site, and whether you want a maintenance plan

Ask every agency to price each line separately and to list what is not included. The missing items, such as hosting, content writing or the second round of changes, are where most budgets go wrong.

What happened to the furniture shop

He chose a middle path. A clean WooCommerce store, custom design for the home page and category pages, 80 products to start, bKash and COD, and courier integration. It cost far less than the biggest quote, but included the things that matter: speed, SEO structure and tracking. Within four months, Google sent him more orders than his old Facebook boosts.

A website is not a cost to minimise. It is a tool that should pay for itself. Price it by what it needs to do. If you want an honest quote, our team is happy to look at your brief through our contact page.

The short version

  • Website development cost in Bangladesh ranges from about Tk 15,000 for a template site to several lakh for custom builds.
  • Price depends on pages, design, features, content, SEO, speed and tracking.
  • Always ask about yearly costs: domain, hosting, licences, security and maintenance.
  • Keep the domain, hosting and admin access in your own name.
  • Compare quotes on the same written brief.

Quick answers

How much does a website cost in Bangladesh?

A simple template site can start from around Tk 15,000. A custom-designed business site usually costs Tk 50,000 to Tk 1.5 lakh, and an e-commerce store Tk 60,000 to Tk 3 lakh or more. Custom web apps cost more. Quotes vary by agency, features and quality.

Why are some websites so cheap?

Very cheap sites often use a nulled or reused theme, skip planning, SEO and tracking, and come with no support. They can be slow, insecure and expensive to fix later.

What yearly costs come after the website is built?

Domain renewal, hosting, SSL if not included, premium plugin licences, backups, security, and maintenance or updates. Ask for a yearly cost estimate before you sign.

WordPress or custom code: which is cheaper?

For most business and content sites, WordPress is cheaper and faster to build. Custom code makes sense for complex portals, apps and unusual workflows.

How long does it take to build a website?

A business website usually takes three to six weeks. An e-commerce store takes four to ten weeks, depending on products, payments and courier integration.
